  • Deployment: Firm-wide, across 10 practice areas and 4 business functions

GZG, a Legal 500 top-tier Cyprus firm, embedded casepal across every department and turned AI from a tool into the way the firm works.

About GZG

GZG is a first-generation, full-service law firm with two decades of practice and offices in Nicosia and Limassol. Led by Managing Partner George Z. Georgiou, the firm advises local and international clients in litigation and dispute resolution, including international cross-border matters, as well as corporate, commercial and M&A, employment and pensions, real estate and construction, intellectual property, and regulatory work. Beyond legal services, GZG runs GZG Consulting for property and market-entry advisory and GZG Academy for training on Cyprus law and business.

The Legal 500 EMEA ranks GZG as a top-tier firm, with Tier 1 rankings in Employment and in Real Estate & Construction, and names George Z. Georgiou a Leading Individual. A firm among the market leaders also chose to lead the shift to AI.

Firm-wide deployment

The firm rolled casepal out across all ten of its practice areas and every level of seniority, from trainees to partners, and then beyond its legal teams to accounts, IT, HR, and marketing.

Each department put casepal to work on its own matters. Dispute Resolution uses it to research case law, work through case files, and prepare submissions, including on international cross-border matters. Corporate, Commercial and M&A and Banking teams use it to review agreements, run due diligence across large document sets, and draft transaction documents. Employment and Property use it for advice, contract review, and client correspondence. Data Protection & Privacy and IP & Technology teams use it to work through regulation and draft policies and opinions, while Public Law, Family, and Trusts & Succession Planning teams rely on it for research and first drafts.

Knowledge integration

casepal connects directly to GZG's knowledge base through a Microsoft SharePoint integration. Admins control access at the site level, so each team works only with the matters and precedents it is cleared to see, and answers draw on the firm's work product, long-built expertise, and proprietary knowledge.

Security and responsible AI deployment

GZG built responsible use into the deployment. The firm centralized AI use in one authorized, compliant system, adopted internal AI use policies, and, with casepal, trained every department on its own workflows. These steps meet the AI literacy obligation that Article 4 of the EU AI Act places on organizations deploying AI.

Multi-year strategic partnership

After a successful first deployment, GZG committed to casepal for the long term through a multi-year strategic partnership, and expanded access firm-wide.

GZG works with casepal as a design partner: its lawyers and operations teams test new capabilities early, and their feedback shapes what ships next. Features such as scanned-document processing, large multi-document analysis, Word exports, and the in-app drafting editor were built with GZG's practice in mind.

George Z. Georgiou, Managing Partner at GZG
"Most firms buy AI. We embedded casepal. Slowly, deliberately, across every role in the firm. Lawyers, assistants, accounts, IT, HR, marketing. That decision changed how GZG operates." — George Z. Georgiou, Managing Partner, GZG

Impact and Findings

Within six months, 93.4% of GZG's users were working with casepal. Since going live, the firm has completed more than 150,000 tasks with casepal, over 400 every working day, drafting more than 300,000 pages of legal work and analyzing more than 6 million pages of legal material.

The balance between those two numbers says the most about how GZG works. For every page casepal drafts, it reads around twenty: case files, contracts, judgments, legislation, and the firm's own precedents. Most of the work is the research and analysis behind the advice, with drafting built on top of it.

Usage is deep and broad at the same time. Three in four users rely on casepal heavily, and the work is spread across practice areas, seniority levels, and business functions rather than concentrated in a few power users. Over time, GZG's teams brought casepal larger and more complex matters, and it moved from answering questions to producing first drafts, research memos, and analysis across the firm.

Future outlook: GZG as the blueprint for LGRC

GZG's deployment also serves as a blueprint for how leading legal teams can unlock strategic value for their clients by responsibly leveraging frontier technology at scale.
